History of the Civic League

Clearview Estates Civic League started many many years ago. The founding members, Alan Webb, Thomas M McFarland, Phillip G Myers, Lawrence Buckley, Norman G Smith, Clarence R. Cross, Raymond E. Heinrich, Paul E Stati, Bernard Cowgill and Richard N. Williams applied through Beaver County Courts and were approved for an application for charter in December of 1958. August of 1959 Mr. Hayward McIntosh and his wife Elaine willed the land that the pool and playground are currently on to the Clearview Estates Civic League. In the Deed the McIntosh's willed the land to the Civic League to promote the civic, social and recreational well-being of the residents of Clearview Estates.
Over the years there has been many changes in the holding officers on the Civic League Board. But with each change on the board the same ideas were present. To make the pool and playgroung area a safe and fun place to bring our neighborhood children to play. It also promotes social and recreational well being for all residents as a whole.
The present Civic League Board is committed to making the most of the recreational areas. We have recieved a $5,000.00 grant from the Department of Community & Economic Development with a matching grant through GameTime.. We have ordered and recieved new playground equipment that will be installed in the spring of 2007. We are working with other companies to obtain other donations for new updates at the playground area's. The League is not only changing the look at the playground area's. In the spring of 2006 we replaced the sign at the entrance at Route 151. We also replaced the Community Sign after entering the plan at 151. We are working on getting other signs for the two other entrances to the housing plan. We have sponsored for the 2nd year our annual light up night on Christmas Eve. We have had an overwhelming response to this project due to the help from all our housing plan residents.
We hope to see you out and about around the neighborhood. Come and enjoy the playground area and we would love to hear from you with any new and exciting ideas.
